October 22/07, World Paddle Surfing Championships in Spain
Hi All, Thanks for all the support !!!!
Will had his run yesterday in a heat with a Scot, a Brit and an
Italian. The Scot was clearly the best, everyone thought that Will
would be 2 or 3, and the Italian got in the way. Everyone except the
judges, that is, cause Will got 4th. It was really questionable
circumstance, cause their scoring computer went bust at that time and
the Italian couldn´t believe he had done so well, and the Italian in
the next heat scored very poorly. Hummmmm. Will asked very
nicely if the judges would please review the scoring/ admin. but I
have little hope. Bummer !
Kevin was leading his 20 minute heat for about 15 minutes - then went
to 4th. Very close heat, probably valid.
Val borrowed a long boat for her heat and placed 2nd, so she will
carry on in that event, she has her own boat for the short boat event
but hasn´t had a heat yet.
Waves for the event were rather ´pidling and small´ not what everyone
always hopes for, but everyone was on an equal footing. Bigger waves
forcast and lots of room to play.
The Canada shirts went over well, we all wear them at major
get-togethers. Will found a long stick of bamboo and he carried the
Canadian flag for the parade - it was fun.
Brad went for x-rays in Bilbao last night - no visible problems, but
they gave him some meds and a neck brace. He´s a hurtin´unit but
doing the best he can.
