just saw a pic in the c river paper of the destiny rafts on the iron mine rapids !!! They say the water is still flowing ??? Anyway I'm headed up island for the long weekend so I'll check it . Won't have the beta up till next week but if anyone is ambitious you could give destiny a call and hit them up for a water level ?

Wish us luck

Could you give me some beta on the Iron Mine Rapids? I have never heard of them.

The great google informed me that this is the Nimpkish! So, what is the story? (Having never done the Nimpkish...)

The Nimpkish was my home river for a couple years. There are two main runs one that takes out at the Woss Bridge and the second at Iron Mine rapids. It is a flashy river - like most VI rivers. This time of year it will be pretty boney. That said it is a good float with lots of big eddy's and beaches for stopping, cliff jumping, swimming.

Access is easy - Iron mine section is a 3 (-) and the upper section may rate up to a 3+ because of a couple sketchy holes.

There used to be a good online guidebook put together by Jeff Holden ( a Woss local at the time). It covered the entire north island. I printed it off a few years back and could likely find it if anyone is interested in detailed info on the area.

Steve... I... I just need a little water you know? Just a little. I mean, come on man, I need my fix. I got this new paddle, this new PFD, 2 new boats.

Just spot me a little water man. You know, something moving maybe? Does not have to be much...

Darren, is that book still around? We could (with permission) host it on the surfkayak website - or on my own personal site. Either way, I have ways of putting it online for all. (Assuming that Jeff Holden is ok with this)

It was a website that I printed all the info off of just in case it went down - which it apears to have. Jeff moved down to the states a few years back but from what I know of him I really don't think he would mind if we reposted it. He wasn't out to make money off of it - just a really keen kayaker. I'll try to track it down. It included the Adam, Eve, White, a couple creeks, as well as access info for San Josef Bay & Raft Cove.

I have surf kayaked most of the accessible northwest coast as well if anyone wants info on that.
