Time to set the record straight about the Unlikely Paddlefest. It is obviously a paddlefest held on the 15, 16, and 17 of september (second weekend of september every year). It is held at the town of Likely, BC, on Quesnel Lake(outside Williams Lake) with camping right there in likely across the street from the bar (you can camp at the forks but its not worth it).

The Runs: (Not the runs described in the other likely paddlefest post)

The best run there in September is the Quesnel river. The put in is right there at likely at the start of the river. There Are three take-out points along the way to make it either a class 2, 2+/3 or 3/3+. It is a great river at pretty much all levels with big swirlies, waves and holes along the way.

The upper Cariboo is usually low at this time of year almost making it a creek run with the option of running Cariboo falls at the put in (a powerful chute). This run is probably a class 2+/3.

The lower cariboo is good for beginners as it is mostly a class 2 float with a couple of waves and class 2+ drops. This run has been done by tubers in August.

Monday is set aside for a full day Chilko river run (class 3/3+). There is a shuttle service for that one at a cost of 75$ per person (includes food, transportation and drinks). Its a beautiful but cold river.

Those are the runs that are done. The horsefly is another option for beginners (another tubing river) and I'm not sure if there is a crew that heads out there for that one or not.

I am definately heading back home to paddle the rivers I learned to kayak on. My plans are to leave Vancouver at noon on Friday, so if you want to set up a kayaking caravan, you can call my cell at 250-267-1770.

More information can be found at http://www.adrenalinmountain.com/kayaking.htm and videos can be found at:

Make the trip, its a wicked party.

I believe my friend will be bringing out his raft to raft the quesnel river. It's generally a packed raft, but if you wanted to bring a loved one, there will likely be that option. I think rafting is free or pretty darn cheap.

Murphy's Freaking law.

Finally some paddling comes along, and I am in San Francisco for 2 weeks. :(
