Everything is pretty dry on Island. I have not yet done Jordan River - but I was considering heading out to Long Beach.
If you need the use of a boat and want to paddle with me I have the following:
Necky Jive
Dagger Super Ego
Bliss-Stick Rad 195
Bliss-Stick Mystic
The Jive is great for ocean surf. I have not yet tried the Rad in the ocean, but plan to.

thanks george. although i am not opposed to long beach it seems a long way to go when apparently jorden river is close...ish. is there something i dont know about this spot?
i will be hopefully going to sproat lake a few more times this summer as i have a friend there so a trip to long beach is not that far from there. was going to go this weekend but weather isnt supposed to be great and i have to get some employment stuff sorted bla bla bla ick

Let me know when you get your boat. I will probably be doing lots of flatwater practice in Thetis if you are up for that.

I have driven all the way down island to surf jordan river .... then I learned it only works in the winter . yup education through experience!
Anyway I'd be up for a day of creeking the gold if anybody wants to step it up a bit ?

so i guess the tides arn"t right in the winter then, bummer.
So my boat is now a no go...grrrr but i hear that undercurrents are having a sale this week so i will be calling them tomorrow to see if they have a demo at a reasonable price.

It is mostly the storms that create the waves. And depending on wind direction it changes how the water will behave. So, you could have good waves at one spot, and terrible waves at another. - or no waves!
The good thing about long beach (apart from the drive) is that there is almost always something there. Of course, in the winter there is REALLY something there. I discovered this in my arrogance thinking I was man enough to handle some truly extreme waves in my Jive.
I experienced the spanking that is a wave in excess of 20 feet - probably close to 30 breaking on my head. I have never been that badly trashed in a river hole. I still can't believe I did not swim out of that beating!
The island has many other paddling spots that all run in the winter of course. I can't wait to get on the Gordon River - and I will be happy when the Puntledge is going again so I can really try my new Rad in Tarp & Play.
