I am planning on heading down to Leavonworth Washington to go paddle on the Wenatchee. It generally runs well during the melt that takes place over the Victoria day long weekend. Due to the popularity of this runoff, it can be hard to find places to camp. Thus, I am trying to plan this trip in advance.
The Wenatchee is a great play river, with big water volume. It is similar in character to the Clearwater, but not as difficult. I would rate it class III big water. There are numerous waves and holes to rip it up on.
I figure we need a bunch of Vancouver Island Paddlers out on the Wenatchee!
I will be posting details of camping, put in, take outs etc. Of course, anyone who has not been down the Wenatchee might want a guided run at first go, so as not to miss any play spots... (Or accidentally go over the weir!)
If you are interested, please post here so we can start co-ordinating a trip!
(I also plan on doing a Clearwater trip in June-July depending on river levels.)
