For the first time in a dozen years of paddling the Cow while paddling downstream of Skutz Falls in mid February we were verbally encouraged by a fisherman in no uncertain terms to continue moving downstream. At the time we were on the opposite river bank of the fisherman who did not take our being there well with the end result that an item was thrown at a kayaker and a hooked line was cast towards him.

Shortly there after while discussing this with a local river fisher he advised me that while he and some others were fishing at "Sandy Pool" a boat was surfing a wave in the near vicinity of their fishing and the paddlers activities were not appreciated.

Today, I was advised by another river fisher that kayakers were paddling in the area of the fisherman's cast above "S Bend".

We should all be reminded that to avoid confrontation on the river we should be friendly to fishers and at the same time give them their distance. Sometimes it is better to go behind them and at other times to go to the opposite shore.

On a side note, I also heard that break ins in at cars at the park is on a recent rise.

Wow. Nothing like our usual spots getting crowded. You would think that fishermen would be used to paddlers on the cow? I have a feeling that these are newbies to the area...
