Is there anything still running worth paddling on the island? Looking for class III+/IV- that would be worth the trip from Vancouver... 5 days off, looking for a nice road trip.
Let me know if there is anything to boat and if you want to join us?

Things are looking pretty low around here. We have been discussing heading over to the mainland to do the Chilliwack or Clearwater.
The gold has water in it, but it is fairly low. The run we did a few weekends back was 3+. The Adam which we did a while back was great - it is a solid 3+ pool drop run.
The catch to the Adam is that you need to know where the takeout is - as it is not obvious! And if you blow by it, you get to be the first person to descend a 60 meter waterfall...
Steve Fisher (here on the Forums) will probably be the guy coming up with a plan as to where to run this weekend.

thanks for the reply... I think we'll just head back to Chilliwack, it's at a good level anyway and dropping... The Clearwater I heard was high at 4.25 for the good playspots. Nahatlatch is still high... 2.7 . I'd really like to get to the island to paddle a river one of these days... You guys need to keep me informed when you have a trip and the levels are good, hopfully we will make it this fall, winter or spring? We'd like to paddle 3+/4-. I just signed up to this site, so I'll keep checking!!!
If any of you decide to come to Chilliwack, we'll be camping at Thurston Meadows (secure campsite, a few kms before the Slesse take out, $10/night) and running the Canyon friday to monday... no reception though, but if you come out, we should be pretty easy to find in the campground or in the river!
Have a good weekend,

Awesome! It is good to have contacts on the mainland! (I used to paddle out of Penticton)
You will find that there is a very long paddling season on the island, but during the summer is our worst time. During the spring, winter and fall we have *TONS* of runs. So, basically, whenever it is raining, we have water and lots of options. The only catch is you need to dress warm! :)
I am glad you listed the Clearwater level, as the interior rafting ppl did not have it listed on their site. I can't wait to get there at 3 1/2 again. I hear you guys are getting a very high water year on the mainland!
Now I am tempted to take a trip out to the Chilliwack... Are you doing the canyon or the lower section?

Hey George,
that's awesome, we'll try to come over when it's not summer ;)
We ran the Canyon the last 4 days and I tried an Agent 6.0 and loved it... :D bought one last night, so I'm going to brake it in today, back to the canyon! :p
We are having lots of water, normally we'd have been at the Nahatlatch a few times already and the Chilliwack would be drying out.... I think we're getting there, just a month behind normal.
For your info, the level (online gage currently broken) was 1.4 friday.... dropping 0.05m /day... it was 1.25 yesterday (monday), so I'm glad we spent the weekend there and enjoyed the last good water of it.... until next rain!
We're thinking Nahatlatch next saturday.... and I have 5 days off Aug.8-12, might head back to Nahatlatch for the whole time if the level is good and may combine the Clearwater...
